"What shoes are you going to wear today, Flynn?" I ask my four-and-a-half-year-old.
"Hmmm, I think I will wear these," she says pointing to her black knee-high imitation Uggs, "because they are popular and I like wearing popular shoes now."
I don't even know what that means but it scares me and it sounds expensive.

Mine had a meltdown because she picked out an outfit that I deemed too hot for today's warm weather. I had to make up this huge story about how I was going to pick the perfect outfit that was her favorite color and I bet she couldn't guess who was on the shirt (Pooh & Piglet). Too much drama too early in the morning!
I was afraid that she was going to stay home from school!
When we went clothes shopping a few weeks ago she picked out an outfit to try on and I couldn't get it off of her. They had to scan her!
I was hoping that I had a few more years before she had her own opinions about clothes.
Oh god, I don't think I'll survive it. I hate shopping. Plus, the popular thing keeps hitting girls at younger and younger ages.
Off topic, but how did you like Into the Wild? Did you watch the movie yet?
You are scaring me, seriously. I imagine having this battle with Lizzie sooner rather than later. She saw a commerical for shoes that come with some kind of makeup and she said "those are pretty shoes. I need a pair, I don't have any pretty shoes" Never mind that she has more sparkly pink shoes than a Barbie factory!
