I also started reading at 3, although with two older sibs I still enjoyed being read aloud to...it was attention after all. Sounds like we had similar taste in books. I loved Piers Anthony and then Stephen King, but I don't think I could read King as a parent...I've lost my love of horror. I will check out this book though!

I haven't looked at a topiary the same way since I read The Shining. I catch myself looking over my shoulder just in case they're following me. It's funny how things stay with you because it's been years since I read that book.

I was a huge SK fan back in the day. I can't watch a horror movie without crying or wetting myself, but I can read about it all day long. Although I do remember (vividly) reading It in 7th grade and having to turn the book upside down at night so the clown on the cover wasn't looking at me.

I haven't read anything of his since The Green Mile, though. I may have pick up a book or two now!
